CASE STUDY: EMAAR PROPERTIES

The portfolio of Alex Penna, STUDIO KHORA Design Leader for Contemporary Architecture, caught the attention of Emaar Properties Senior Manager of Design. Emaar felt the contemporary architecture featured on the KHORA website perfectly aligned with the architectural style envisioned for their high-profile Dubai Creek Harbor development.

Luxury lifestyle, spectacular cultural offerings, and monumental architecture are characteristics of The Emaar Group's boundary-pushing projects. Emaar Properties is widely recognized for Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure in the world since late 2008, and The Dubai Mall, the largest mall in the world by total area. Emaar developments are a significant contributor to the architectural beauty of the United Arab Emirates.

Equally impressive is Emaar's Dubai Marina, an artificial canal city built along a two-mile stretch of the Persian Gulf shoreline. Aside from dockage for the world's largest yachts, Dubai Marina accommodates more than 120,000 people in residential villas and towers.

Emaar describes Dubai Creek Harbor as an iconic waterfront development. This mixed-use development of monumental scale is situated on the banks of the historic Dubai Creek just 15 minutes from Downtown Dubai and the Dubai International Airport. Dubai Creek Harbor will also be home to the world's second tallest tower at 3045 feet. Dubai Creek Tower, designed by the renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, was scheduled for completion in 2020.

Top Miami architectural firm Rex Nichols Architects got a contract from Emaar Properties for design work in the first phase of pre-construction

Emaar Properties, the developer of a 10-tower project in Dubai, commissioned a Fort Lauderdale-based architecture firm to design the buildings’ façades.

Emaar commissioned Rex Nichols Architects (RNA) for the first pre-construction phase of the development, called Dubai Creek Harbor.

The mixed-use development near downtown Dubai, scheduled for completion in 2020, would include residences, retail stores, restaurants and offices.

“We were approached by the senior manager for Dubai Creek Harbor to design luxury condominium, based on the contemporary design created by RNA Senior Designer and Business Partner Alex Penna featured on our website,” said architect Rex Nichols, who is the principal of RNA, said in a prepared statement.

If selected to continue design work beyond the first phase of pre-construction, Fort Lauderdale-based RNA would become the lead architect for the 10-building waterfront development in a joint venture with Robert Swedroe Architects in Miami.
